2-factor authentication

In a world where our digital presence is constantly growing, it is crucial to protect our online accounts from potential threats. Passwords alone are often not enough to keep sensitive information and digital identities secure. This is where 2-factor authentication (2FA) comes into play. Vaulteron, a pioneer in cybersecurity, has risen to this challenge and provides a double layer of defense by combining Time-based One-Time Password (TOTP) and WebAuthn with YubiKey.

TOTP: A time coordinated protection

The TOTP method is a proven way of 2FA based on a synchronized time. Vaulteron uses this method to provide an additional layer of security for logins. How it works. When you try to log in to your account, the Vaulteron app generates a one-time code on your mobile device or a special token that is updated every 30 seconds. This code must be entered along with your password to complete the login. Even if an attacker obtained your password, they would not be able to access your account without also knowing the current TOTP code.

WebAuthn with YubiKey: The combination of hardware and biometrics

The second method Vaulteron uses for 2FA is WebAuthn in combination with the YubiKey. WebAuthn is a modern authentication protocol that allows the use of hardware tokens and biometrics. The YubiKey, a physical USB device, acts as a key to your digital life. It can be used for various online services and provides an additional layer of security. To log in, you simply insert the YubiKey and provide biometric confirmation, such as fingerprint or facial recognition. This enables seamless yet highly secure authentication.
